Well, we are two weeks into our new website and the response has been just wonderful! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Laurie Davis and I have been a watercolorist for over thirty years. I started painting as a child and continued into adulthood. I still love the sweet whimsy of fresh watercolor on paper. That has never changed.
I paint the seasons. As one season turns into another, I am patient to watch the change. The fall offers pansies in the windowbox, pumpkins on the porch, autumn leaves... Halloween and Thanksgiving are on the calendar and it's time for a fresh front door wreath to celebrate the season. Everyone is getting ready to celebrate the harvest
Once the season has come, I gather the findings and begin the process of watercolor. I do not paint from photographs... I typically don't do landscapes or portraits. I paint the small sweet items on my desktop brought in from the yard or the whimsy of the season from my imagination... I love the mood of each season... it brings the promise of tomorrow.
It is like prayer. All art is like prayer.
The photograph above is this year's autumn swag. I added much of the fauna and the rusted antique door plate for a personal touch... I love the warm colors of fall! It lifts the mood and I'm ready to paint the season!
